I'm a lecturer in Applied Linguistics but nomadic at heart, with a preference for travelling in Central and Eastern Europe. I spent years researching British migration in a département that borders the Pyrenees – Ariège – a little-known area of south-west France with some wild and remote corners. This was the basis of my PhD, which I then rewrote into a travelogue: A House at the End of the Track.
