I'm a lecturer in Applied Linguistics but nomadic at heart, with a preference for travelling in Central and Eastern Europe. A family search took me to Ukraine pre-2022, and I wrote up that series of journeys as a set of illustrated articles in Travels in a Young Country: Discovering Ukraine’s Past and Present. The ebook is FREE from most of the main ebook stores.

I spent years researching British migration in a département that borders the Pyrenees – Ariège – a little-known area of south-west France with some wild and remote corners. This was the basis of my PhD, which I then rewrote into a travelogue: A House at the End of the Track.
